    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    1. HOW OLD IS TORBURNLEA HOMESTEAD?

Torburnlea was built approximately 100 years ago with the establishment of H.L.Hall and Sons farming community, long before there was any other formal settlement in the area.

    2. WHERE DOES THE NAME COME FROM?

Torburnlea, the family homestead for the farming pioneer, H.L.Hall and his wife Grace, who was of Scottish origin, was built in the Crocodile River valley near an iconic granite outcrop which has historical relevance to the farm. In Scots a TOR is a hill, a BURN is a river and a LEA is a piece of land. Hence the name Torburnlea.

    3. IS THE HOUSE AND GARDEN AVAILABLE FOR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHS?

Our peaceful garden and elegant homestead is available for wedding photographs but this is for the exclusive use of guests who are resident at the time.

    4. ARE WE ALLOWED TO BRING PETS?

We love Lucy, our dog, Magnolia and Oliver, our cats and we love your pets too but unfortunately our property is not sufficiently secure to allow guests to bring their four legged friends.

    5. WHAT KIND OF TREE IS IN FRONT OF TORBURNLEA HOMESTEAD?

The beautiful, enormous tree which stands in the entrance garden to Torburnlea Homestead is approximately 100 years old. It is a Flamboyant tree, indigenous to Madagascar, planted by H.L. and Grace Hall when they built their home.
